I am Jo Mangieri, just Jo, not short for anything.
I was born and raised in the small town named Abingdon, Illinois and relocated to beautiful SWFL Florida in 2013. I always treated art as more of a hobby. It was something I would do when I could fit it in my schedule. Eventually due to working many long hours in the corporate world and “life” getting in the way, I lost my passion for art. While losing my creative side, I also lost a huge part of myself. Those closest to me could sense something was missing.
My mother, who used to quietly sit and watch me paint or draw, always seemed to understand the importance of that creative part of me. In the final days before her passing, she spoke very little, but one thing she did say was, “JoJo, do art.” After she passed, I took a break from the corporate world and picked up a paintbrush again. That moment rekindled something deep in my soul. Art became my refuge, a place of peace amid the chaos of life. It became how I quiet my mind, and how I stay connected to the memory of my parents. Now, I create not just for myself, but to share a piece of my world with you.
